Lesson 1: Getting in, getting there, getting through

Module 14 · Lesson 1 · About 45 minutes · Needs: Module 6 Lesson 2 (VPN, jump host, change board) and Module 4 Lesson 2 (time zones with zoneinfo)

The situation

Tuesday 28 April 2026, week 7. The change board has approved CHG-0417: release 0.4.0 of claims-api goes out on Tuesday 5 May at 18:00, and the pilot starts the next morning at 08:30 with Joan, Dev and Priti. Monday 4 May is a bank holiday.

Nadia asks for one page by Thursday. Where will you be each day? How do you get in, to the building and to the VM? Who covers which hours, given that Larkfield's platform team works in Toronto (added in this lesson, fictional like the rest of the engagement)? And what happens if you cannot reach the VM at 18:20 on Tuesday?

GO-LIVE WEEK, MAY 2026 Mon 4 bank holiday Tue 5 travel, then 18:00 release Wed 6 on site pilot 08:30 Thu 7 on site with clerks Fri 8 VPN day fixes, logs
Go-live week has a bank holiday, an evening release over the VPN and two days on site (blue: your plan; grey: no work), and each day needs a different kind of access.

This lesson builds that page.
